about

The dark urban riddims of US dub warriors Teledubgnosis meet the phunkadelic grooves of Norway’s Necessary Intergalactic Cooperation.

Bridging the geographic and stylistic divide between these two projects is veteran drummer Ted Parsons who mans the skins for both projects. A mutual passion for all things dub led to a long beery conversation between Ted and Mike Coles in The Clifton pub in St John’s Wood, London following Ted’s Killing Joke sessions at the BBC’s Maida Vale studios back in 2004. A few emails later and the Teledubgnosis project was heading for Malicious Damage, soon to be joined by Oslo’s Necessary Intergalactic Cooperation.

Teledubgnosis (drummer Ted Parsons, producer/audio alchemist Jason Wolford, and multi-instrumentalist Gregory Damien Grinnell) are ambient dub metal scientists, dark riddim warriors, noise sculptors and industrial roots rockers. Imagine the ragged sonics of Adrian Sherwood’s On-U Sound label mated with the low end depth of a Bill Laswell recording, and you’re getting close. Or think of what The Stooges might have sounded like had Lee Perry been at the mixing desk. The sound of Teledubgnosis can also be described as organics taking form - the organics that arise from exploiting technology. With contributions from other musicians such as east coast luminaries Tony Maimone (Pere Ubu), Joel Hamilton and Octopus (Dälek), west coast musician Leigh Marble, and David Sims (The Jesus Lizard, Scratch Acid), accumulating a rich palette of ideas and sounds to blend in the final mixes.

Necessary Intergalactic Cooperation (NIC) is based in oslo, norway and is no ordinary rock band, rather a musical supergroup drawn together for the purpose of a total global shakedown. Drawing from diverse backgrounds in dub, rock, punk, jazz, and electronica, they create a potent melting pot of sounds and styles, fusing the past and the future with music that is both timeless and universal. NIC seeks to create common ground between established and diverse musical genres taking them into exhilarating new directions.

about

Wire Recordings Seattle, Washington

Musical styles of our artists range from musique concrète to noisy roots dub and all places in between. We use synthetic means to produce organic textures and vice versa. We love analog sounds, but tear them to shreds with our evil machines.
